Management and organisation

All the nature reserves in the Haute Savoie region are jointly managed by ASTERS (Agir pour la Sauvegarde des Territoires Remarquables ou Sensibles)an association whose aim is to protect remarkable or endangered territories and species.
What does the management of a nature reserve entail?
Two main areas are dealt with :
- the scientific aspect
- the statutory aspect
ASTERS also works together with various associations and local authorities where the nature reserves are implanted.
Organisation

An association was created in 1978 (one year after the creation of the nature reserve), called 'L'Association des Amis de la Reserve Naturelle de Sixt Fer à Cheval' (an association in support of the Sixt Fer à Cheval nature reserve). This association has developed different ways in which everyone can explore this environment without jeopardising its equilibrium (nature trail, information centre, exhibitions, conferences and various activities).
